The Dialogue across Difference initiatives is tasked with provide training and capacity-building opportunities for different campus constituencies. This half-day workshop represents a key piece of DaD’s effort to foster a culture of resilient communication across differences through capacity-building throughout the UCLA campus. To address the high demand for skilled facilitators to hold conversations across differences the Advanced Facilitation Training aims to build up the internal facilitation capacity of different offices and schools across campus.
This workshops supports participants in enhancing their facilitation skills and tailoring them for conversations across difference. The Advanced Facilitation Training may cover topics including:
- Examining the role and potential goals of a facilitator
- Communication skills for navigating charged political difference
- Trauma-informed facilitation practices
- Troubleshooting & Coached facilitation practice
Participants in this training should:
- Have some kind of exposure to or experience with facilitation or related fields, and comfort convening or leading group conversations (e.g., mental health, EDI, I-O psychology, group processes, team building, leadership development, etc.)
- Be available for the entire session
- Be willing and able to serve as a facilitation resource in their respective UCLA community, school, or office, either by virtue of their role at UCLA or in a volunteer capacity.
